The Vegan’s Hundred

31 August 2008

Hmm. It seems that not only does this new blog need another post <uhem>, but it also seems that something is following me around on the internet. I’ve read The Omnivore’s Hundred, and just read about The Vegan’s Hundred. So after reading about it in a few places, I am taking it as a sign that I’m to follow suit and list the ones that I’ve had (on The Vegan Hundred). Let me be honest, though: I am not a vegan. I used to be, and now I’m vegetarian again. It is my intent to become vegan again, however, so that’s why I’m doing The Vegan Hundred. (Fake it till ya make it, they say.)

So here’s how this works:

1) Copy this list into your own blog, including these instructions.
2) Bold all the items you’ve eaten.
3) Cross out any items that you would never consider eating.
4) Post a comment here once you’ve finished and link your post back to this one.
5) Pass it on!

1. Natto (Thanks go to FB for this definition [she knows who she is:) ]: Fermented Soybean Tofu. It tastes like dirty socks apparently..)
2. Green Smoothie (Not my favorites, but have drunk.)
3. Tofu Scramble (Ohh yes. I fell in love with these years ago. Num!)
4. Haggis (Horjy dorjy. I lived in the UK for a while [vegan days] and the idea of this dish [no offense to proud Scots] gives me the heebee jeebies. But I have had some delicious vegan haggis. Go figure.)
5. Mangosteen
6. Creme brulee (Surely this isn’t vegan? Or am I missing something?)
7. Fondue (Oh yes. I also lived in Switzerland [birthplace of the fondue], pre-veg-still-meat-eater days. But I’ve done a veggie-ish version.)
8. Marmite/Vegemite (Not my favorite.)
9. Borscht (I have a problem w/ beets. They make me revisit them.)
10. Baba ghanoush (Excellent.)
11. Nachos (Love them. Have had them cheeseless, and I’m curious to try them w/ a cheeze-ish sauce.)

19. Gyoza (Again, I have to play vegan-stupid.)
20. Vanilla ice cream (Prefer it to chocolate.)
21. Heirloom tomatoes (Oh my goodness. THIS is heaven on earth. Freshly sliced, juicy, a teensy bit of sea salt…)
22. Fresh wild berries (And some hand-picked, organic blackberries from Washington are in my freezer right now.)

13 August 2008

Greetings and Salutations! This is my first post. I’m not quite sure what exactly the topic of this blog will be… I don’t think it’ll be too topic specific in one area. I can imagine writing about finances, health, music, animals, literature, languages, travel, spirituality, and a whole lot of other things. So at this point, I do not have a single topic to focus on. Rather, it’ll be a potpourri, I believe.
